[mikazuki follows alphi inside with a grateful nod, laughing faintly]
It would appear as though a great number of personal belongings for those who come from the realm with the Watchers are "daemons" - small creatures that are in essence manifestations of their souls.
But to hear that this is of your own creation... I believe it to be slightly different but no less charming.
Aye, however—your accurate guess is not because of these carbuncles. I had studied arcanima for a fair number of years, thus my knowledge allowed me to create these familiars. Yet I have recently picked up the art of somanoutics, and practitioners of it have become known as sages.
[ On the edge of the bed! It will accept any and all pets, like a cat, if/when he pets. ]
Fancy yourself an intellect in the magical arts? I am far from the greatest of mages you could come upon, but full glad would I be to impart my knowledge!
Somanoutics was created in my homeland of Sharlayan, famed for its scholars and wealth of knowledge, and has come forth after blending together other magical disciplines. Its primary focus is meant to heal and protect, yet a well practiced sage is not to be trifled with in the heat of battle.
Ha ha ha, I see, I see... I would not say myself an intellect - but in the courts that were my home, we would be visited with a number of onmyouji. Sages in their own right, who could perform several different services, ranging from healing to exorcisms.
[mikazuki will very happily pet the carbuncle as he explains]
Somanoutics sounds both familiar and distant, in that way. I would not suppose that it has a great deal to do with spirits, based on your description.
Ha ha ha. I am glad to hear that they are still effective.
But there is little point in disguising ourselves amongst others who possess such a variety of backgrounds and attributes. I believe that eventually, it may be revealed that we are swords.
[nodding easily at that - and alphinaud's curiosity will only be met with mikazuki's own even gaze. there's a little bit of a crescent moon theme, right down to the fact that this eyes seem to hold slivers of yellow in the same shape]
Ha ha ha... Then I take it that the notion of tsukumogami is not common in your realm.
There is a belief that emotions might influence objects so strong that they themselves receive a soul, or perhaps if they reach something akin to one hundred years of age, then they will gain sentience. That is something like what happens to us.
Hm! Indeed, that must be a concept unique to yours. Or... perhaps the peoples of my world have yet to discover it. After all, carbuncles such as Moonstone here have come forth from the belief that gemstones have sentience.
It is entirely possible that gemstones may possess sentience - after all, such minerals can be some of the oldest items on this earth, or the most revered by people.
You will have to let me know if the mystical arts or science progress enough to allow you to find your answers.
Oh? Your sword spirits may be able to find themselves manifesting at as low as one hundred years... though I suppose if warriors of your era are particularly rough with their swords, they can be difficult.
Perhaps not the 'vast majority' - but that is what makes relics so captivating to public interest, wouldn't you say? A sword that survived countless battles, that might still be preserved.
Swords kept in shrines, receiving the prayers of those who come to visit it. Swords forged by the order of royals, for their personal collections.
Such blades exist as well. Each possess their own story.
Yes, they must be out there somewhere. It will not be an easy find, but records of such things may exist somewhere, as well. At the very least, I do not have to be the one to locate said sword, so long as I pose the idea.

[ note to self: ask about daemons!! ]
Indeed, I would say carbuncles are vastly different from such. They are, simply put, aetherial constructs conjured forth from gemstones.

[looks so fluffy.... jiji wants to Pet....]
Are you a sage of a sort?

Ha ha ha, my, how specific. Somanoutics is what, exactly? I would be pleased to hear more on the matter.
The mystical and the magical are rather close to my heart, after all.

Then I do hope to one day be able to introduce you to our Saniwa. After all, they are the one who summoned my soul in this form.

This form, you say?
no subject
This form that appears human-like. So much so that it appears as though many of you question it very little.

To—to speak true, I have thought naught of it!

Such as the weaponry?

Precisely that.

Quite so! I will need to look into it, certainly, though... The difficult part would be locating a sword of such age.
