Our assignment was to investigate various mysterious happenings around the school, and put a stop to them... a train, those who boarded which were never seen again, a moving statue, and a haunted painting...

Goodness. None of it could have been an easy feat to accomplish.

It was certainly terrifying... But we had powers to help us dispatch them.

I think we learned them at the school, somehow... like we'd been students for a long time.

... That is not so unusual—to have been manipulated in such a way, that is. Though, if it was to your benefit, then it is a surprisingly helpful one.

If we suppose that everything we do here is for "entertainment," then I imagine it would be like handing us the appropriate equipment before a sporting event...
