I believe warrior is something of a strong word, here... I would prefer not to fight, should it be unnecessary. However, I am a mage, and 'tis my magicks that I wield when I have no other choice.
Ah! I see. [Not a warrior, boo... No just kidding Souji supports the squishy magicians of the group.] I met one or two people like that back at the castle. We don't have anything like that in my own world, so it was always an interesting thing to talk about...
I can imagine so! But yes, we have nothing like that, really... The closest thing that I can think of is Saitou-san's vision. He's very attuned to the presence of spirits, and can read the record of death.
[HIS DEATH NOTE EYES. They actually have so much weird shit even besides this... There's a cannibal who has a bear sidekick?? His pig has human levels of intelligence??? A small hobgoblin stole his face when he was a child???? These things are just simply never addressed, it's fine.]
[Spirits.......... Souji just huffs out a little laugh at that, though.]
Oh... Most likely, yes! My time is quite before many of these advancements, but I've learned a lot about them. Things like electricity and cars and the like.
For a while, it honestly felt as though I was learning something new every day! But I find myself in a similar position quite often, even though so much time has gone by... Some things truly sound like magic, even though they're technology.
... I do not think calling it magic is technically correct when it comes to airships, but I am no engineer, I'm afraid. For the sake of simplicity, however, I believe 'tis not a wholly inaccurate comparison.
Hm... It seems I still have some studying to do about technologies, then...
[HIS TECHNOLOGIES, RANDY.
No time to ponder that, though! Because in the next moment, a poof of stardust brings a memory with it...
i refuse to write out a prose post for anime pig backstory with this tone that goes all over the place, but the general emotions are a not-really-accepting acceptance of Duty and Destiny (because sometimes one simply does not consider the things they don't like, so it's a non-issue), and a lot of emotions of "SAME HAT!" over this extremely loyal pig. Sometimes... you just see yourself in an aggressive little demon of a pig...]
[me cracking open my journal to write pprose (pig prose) just for sweet anais
Thank god this is like one of the least traumatic memories that could have possibly been shown, though. PHEW. After the stardust settles and the memory fades, Souji just laughs a little, glancing toward where Saizo's vibin.]
Ah... hah, yes... My apologies. It's happened once or twice today. I suppose hoping it would just be once or twice was a bit foolish.
He has been! He's quite wonderful like that - a very loyal friend, indeed. Fortunately, he's quite friendly in general, so he's been able to make even more friends over the years.
[Despite the fact that his face is eternally set into a demonic pig scowl.]
Aw, how very kind of you! Saizo says he'd be delighted to be your friend! He thinks you're a very charming person. [Saizo has done nothing but trot in a little circle and go bukii!, but Souji sure acts as a confident translator.
He's also apparently decided that he's given Alphinaud enough space in the kitchen, coming over to watch as he gets ready to brew.]
[ Adorable... Hopefully he's still okay with the presence of a carbuncle! It has since flopped... somewhere on the floor, not unlike a sleepy, lazy cat, quietly watching. ]
And you as well.
[ Alphinaud will give him a quick piggy scritch. Good boy.... ]
As for this tea– [ Time to let it steep! He prepares all that whatever. ] –again, I do apologize if it isn't perfect. I confess I have prepared it very few times...
[SWEET (looks at smudged writing) MOONROCK?? Saizo does indeed seem fine with this carbuncle just vibin here, as one does, and leans into Alphinaud's hand for scritches. HE'S SO SPOILED HERE. Deserved.]
I'm certain that it won't be all that bad! [Unless he has magical "everything I touch in the kitchen turns to ash"-itis, and even then Souji will still try to be... polite...] Do others usually prepare it for you? Now that I'm thinking about it, I know one or two people who would be completely hopeless if they were asked to make their own tea...
[Said with a mild note of amusement since he's definitely Reminiscing.]
[ HE'S PROBABLY OKAY?? He's just simply never prepared his own shit before....... ]
Erm... Usually, yes. Growing up, we've had servants at home, and back at the Rising Stones, there was usually a few around who were better suited to the likes of preparing food and drink than I.
Ah... Goodness, you must have been fairly high up, then! [To have RICH PEOPLE THINGS like SERVANTS, damn.] But fortunately, I've found most people can pick up things like cooking and tea-brewing quite easily, even if they don't have a lot of practice with it. It's not so difficult, as long as you have good guidance at the start and common sense!

... Mayhap so! It is my understanding that such worlds rely more on technological advancements, however.

Hah, well, the two are not always mutually exclusive! At times, they can work in tandem.

I've heard of that before, as well! Like airships fueled by magic so they can stay up in the air, right?

The memory comes suddenly! As it does. Alphinaud looks surprised for a moment, blinking dumbly, then: ]
—Goodness. That... was another memory, was it not?

[ Alphinaud will also look to where Saizo is just vibin'. ]
But this appears to be a much more fonder memory, at least.

Mm! Though it's a little rude of this place to be prying things out of our heads at all, I would much rather share something like this, you know?
[He reaches out to give Saizo a very fond pat on his lil pig noggin.]
