[ With an exasperated sigh, Alphinaud scoops up the carbuncle from the sink, who protests only with an indignant squeak. ]
'Twould be more accurate to say it found its way into trouble, really... They can be so troublesome at times.
But friend in a sense, perhaps—'tis a familiar of mine own making, and shall be sticking around for the long term, it seems. If you wish, you may call it Moonstone.
[ And much like a cat, the carbuncle wriggles out of his arms and hops back to the floor, its tails swishing behind it. ]
A mage's thing, yes. 'Tis common for practitioners of arcanima to conjure carbuncles, but they do not come forth from the soul. I've not heard of the like afore.
[ Oh, scritches. That's the good shit right there. ]
Well, they don't have only one singular use, really—ultimately, all magical disciplines are expanded upon in the pursuit of knowledge and discovery, and summoning a carbuncle is... not difficult even for a beginner, but then you begin to wonder—can you create your own? Have you the mastery over the arcane arts to imbue it with the magical attributes you desire?
I was quite proud when I were able to conjure an obsidian carbuncle, and Moonstone here is a step up from that. There are many reasons for an arcanist to have carbuncles of their own, but mine own have been formidable companions to have alongside me in the heat of battle.
So there are different kinds, too... Cool! NGL, I'm kind of curious what the other ones are like. What kind of "magical attributes" can they have, anyway?
...You and Moonstone don't really look like the types to go running into fights, but you sound supes confident, anyway.
And you would do well not to allow appearances to deceive you, my friend—although... I would not claim to be a warrior of any sort, merely a well practiced mage, and this little fellow here has been faithfully at my side for many an encounter.

Hey there, little guy! Did you get lost?

And then the other door swings open. ]
—Ah! There you went. However did you get in here?

[ sort of? ]
I think it just got a little lost! It's NBD, though. Nothing's broken!
This is your friend, right? What's its name?

[ like is this a no touchy situation or can he pet the cutie ]
I think it's fine if it wants to explore! But maybe we should move the breakables somewhere out of reach?

I am... unsure, to speak true—I am unfamiliar with the likes of daemons, but I would not expect them to have similar origins.

But you said Moonstone's a familiar? Is that like a witch's cat sort of thing? Or I guess a mage thing, for you.

I hadn't heard of it before, either! Good to know it's not the same thing, though. So we just get to hang out with this little guy, huh? Lucky~!

[ With a trill, carby hops over to Kazunari's feet. ]
You needn't worry about not touching it. On the contrary, 'tis much like a cat seeking affection.

[ this is SO CUTE he's going to snap a picture and then kneel to actually give some scritches. ]
What's a familiar for, anyway? I never really figured that one out, even back home.

But that's not all you can use magic for, right? I'm more interested in the other things you can do with it.
